Preeti Rai scored in the last minute of the game

Nepal sports- Nepali women’s football player Preeti Rai has to done operation in her leg, she will be out of ground for 3 months. Preeti Rai who plays as a forward player in Nepal women’s national team got injured during the final match between Nepal vs Jordan. This is her second time doing operation in her leg. During the match both team managed to score 1-1 goal, but the penalty shootout Nepal loss the match to Jordan.

Preeti Rai information: Preeti full name is Preeti Kulung Rai. She was born on 20 Nov 2004 in Solukhumbu Nepal. Preeti height is 4.10 feet.

On the WAFF women’s championship 2024 semi-final match against Lebanon, Preeti Rai last minute goal took Nepal to the final. With her goal Nepal manage to score 2-1 against opposite team Lebanon. The semi-final game which was held in King Abdullah Sports City Stadium Jeddah, Saudi Arabia between Nepal and Lebanon.

At the 38th minute in the first half of the game Nepali player Anjila Tumbapo Subba missed the back pass of Pujan Rana that went directly inside the net, which made Lebanon first 1-0 to Nepal. But after some time in the game Sabitra Bhandari 75th minute goal made Nepal comeback in the game equalising 1-1 with Lebanon. After Sabitra’s goal both team were unable to score further goal, so in the last minute of the additional time, Nepal earned a corner and Chaudary place ball near the box but Lebanon player missed it and Preeti Rai manage to grab the golden opportunity shot the ball direct inside the net, giving no chance for return in game to Lebanon.

Nepal manage to be on top of the Group B winning 3 match with earning total of 9 points throughout their games. Later Nepal faced defending champion Jordan in the final who were still undefeated in the match. Jordan has lifted the WAFF Women’s Championship 2024 title for the 6 times in 2005, 2007, 2014, 2019, 2022 and 2024.

After winning the match against Lebanon Preeti Rai told “During the first half it was really uncomfortable for us because we were really new to the ground and we couldn’t play the first half our own game but during the second-half we got comfortable with the field, with the ball and the stadium. So it was easy to keep our ball to keep our momentum. We reach the final and I scored the goal but I also want to win the final, until I don’t win the final it is not enough.” Preeti Rai has dedicated her goal to “Nabina mam” telling that she has help during her hard-times, during her injury, aside from her family she was the only person who help through her hardships and her mental hardships.
